Maureen's Bio & Tutoring Experience

I am an aspiring teacher moving to the Havelock area due to my partner’s employment in the Marine Corps. I intend to stay in the area for at least a year, but will likely stay for much longer than that.

I have been tutoring students through various formats for the past 3 years. Throughout my undergraduate career, I tutored middle and high school aged students within the AVID program, which promotes self-sufficient learning practices to “at risk” students. After graduation, I continued my tutoring career at Huntington Learning Center, where I tutored students from grades 1-12 in reading, writing, math, study skills, and general homework help. During my time at Huntington, I consistently facilitated the development of a strong work ethic and high level of student performance among all of my students including students with exceptionalities or behavioral difficulties.

I believe all students have an inherent capacity and desire to learn. It is my job as a tutor to discover the source of your child’s academic struggles and to present that material in a way that is accessible to them. It is my hope that through working with me, your child will develop a positive attitude towards learning that will continue to support them throughout the rest of their academic careers.
