Lindsay's Bio & Tutoring Experience

As a certified TEFL/TESOL teacher, I taught for nearly two years in South Korea. I worked mainly with elementary through high school students, but am by no means limited to those ages. I was consistently ranked in the top 3 English teachers at my school (out of 10-12) and in the top 10 teachers city-wide.

I typically taught English reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills, as well as test-taking skills for English proficiency tests such as TOEFL. I was also consistently editing online essays and giving detailed feedback on structure, grammar, style, and overall essay strength. I also taught various literature classes, covering anything from classics and young adult novels, to poetry and plays.

My first step in tutoring is getting to know my student. Every student has a different learning style and set of needs, and I tailor each lesson to compliment these criteria. From there, I make sure that each lesson provides the maximum amount of aid without overwhelming my student. The beauty of one-on-one tutoring is that the student and teacher can work together and find exactly what will be most beneficial, and make any adjustments along the way.
