Ben's Bio & Tutoring Experience
Teaching is the most rewarding work there is! I enjoy teaching and tutoring because it combines my passions: learning and communication. Actually, I think I could just say that it's all about learning, because learning is all about communication! My approach to teaching starts with building a good rapport with the learner(s). Then, once shared objectives and the strategies are established, all that's left is the material. So what will it be? I have tutored and taught ESL for several years, beginning with a stint in Mexico for two years. That means I can tutor elementary Spanish, too! I have worked with elementary learners, middle schoolers, and college level learners. I also hold a B.A. in Environmental Studies, so I can also assist your learner with projects or material of that 'nature'.

Ben's Education & Certifications
As I've said, I have a B.A., which happens to be in Environmental Studies, which I earned at Oberlin College. I also have a CELTA certificate to teach English as a second language, which I earned in Mexico. The rest of my education has come with my various life experiences. With that in mind, I know quite a bit about farming, and music, having farmed for four years, and having played the cello for many years. As I lived in Mexico for two years, I can speak Spanish fluently. With my experience teaching English, I can competently break down Spanish and teach it, too.
