Amanda's Bio & Tutoring Experience

I am currently a High School English Literature and Language Teacher. Many of my fellow employees would describe me a innovative and driven, but my passion is helping those who need extra support. My strongest skill comes from the training that I have received in strategic questioning. As an AVID teacher, I have been trained to tutor students in all areas, not just my area of specialization. The method in which I choose to tutor involves inquiry based learning and the use of close reading strategies. Its not about getting the right answer, but learning how to answer the question.

I have been a teacher in the public school system for 3 years. I am a certified teacher, with high growth. After teaching 8th grade English for two years, I transferred to the local high school and now teach 11th and 12th grade English and AVID. AVID is a program built to provide students with study, organization, and note taking skills. This program also prepares students for college and advanced placement studies. I graduated with honors and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and minor in Secondary Education.
