Luke's Bio & Tutoring Experience

I offer tutoring services for high school and undergraduate mathematics, physics, and engineering. Math disciplines offered include algebra through calculus III and differential equations. Engineering disciplines include mechanical, aeronautical/aerospace, and electrical engineering. I may be able to assist with other related subjects; please inquire if yours is not listed.

My preferred method of tutoring is in person, by meeting with a client at a public location such as a bookstore, library, or coffee shop. Subsequent meetings may be arranged at different locations. A few days prior to the tutoring session I'll request that the client send me a reference to the subject material that we'll be working on so that I can prepare. This can be a problem set, a practice exam, a reference to a chapter in a textbook, or even just a list of learning objectives from the course syllabus for that week. This allows me to show up to the tutoring session well prepared to answer the student's questions and make the most efficient use of our time. Following the session, I will usually compile a page or two of lessons learned for the student, to highlight and reinforce the learning objectives, and send it to the student by email.

I have over fifteen years of experience working in technical disciplines and over ten years working as an instructor. I am located in southeast Tucson (near Houghton and Valencia) and can travel to meet students. Although my preferred method of tutoring is face to face, I am willing to provide assistance over the phone, internet or other electronic means, billed at the same rate as face to face.

I make every effort to respond promptly to clients, by phone, email, or text. My availability is best on weekdays; I will try to be as flexible as possible to support the student's learning.
