I adore learning; that’s really all that’s key.
From years of experience as a casual tutor, I found I truly revel in witnessing the undeniable excitement that overcomes anyone finally comprehending a once grueling subject for the first time. When it comes to tutoring, I believe my experience in the arts, maths, and sciences have given me an exceptional level of problem solving creativity. Many times students find particular subjects difficult simply because it is being explained in a way that is not intuitive to their own thinking. I love being able to create new approaches to problems and information in a way that students will respond to.
I, myself, am one of the kids who fell through the cracks in our education system. Although I am now finishing my bachelor’s degree at University of Oregon, I was actually a high school drop out. My excitement for learning was never met by the limited time and resources at my school. I would love to be able to save anyone that frustration.
Finally, I spent three years employed as a barista, and then as a supervisor at Starbucks. My time there instilled a level of professionalism, and a desire for perfection that I now bring to everything I do.
