Dorothy Najeebah's Bio & Tutoring Experience

It has long been my desire to make an impact and positive contribution in the field of childhood development. Before attaining a master’s degree in teaching, I pursued a number of endeavors caring for and mentoring young people between pre-primary and secondary school age, and from a variety of cultural backgrounds. After moving from the west coast to the mid western part of the United States, and seven years in early childhood education, I further expanded my repertoire through online English coaching to Korean adults, then tutoring community college English speakers of other languages. I found that imparting and demonstrating the process and value of learning to students is crucial. As such, I decided to challenge myself and, after earning an associates degree in energy management, have found another way to make an impact.

After spending the last few years in the residential energy industry and consulting homeowners about how to improve comfort, safety and efficiency, I have realized how powerful and rewarding it is to share new information in creative ways. As such, in my search for new career opportunities, I am again being called to the field of education. Ultimately, I aim to combine my experiences, along with recent pursuits in web development, and create sustainable design curriculum. Tutoring part-time, and possibly long term is a way for me to supplement my time and resources as I invest more into coding training.
